Abstract : Fluoropolymers are a class of polymers with excellent chemical stability and mechanical properties which is widely used for membrane fabrication for gas separation, water separation, and energy applications. Fluoropolymer-based gas separation membranes are getting wider attention owing to its permeability and selectivity toward gases and can be effectively utilized for the gas purification application. This chapter tries to give a detailed understanding toward fluoropolymer, its structure, properties, fluoropolymer, and its composites-based membranes with a special focus on gas separation application. Recent progress in the fluoropolymer-based smart membranes is also detailed in this chapter.
