Abstract : The effect of delayed optoelectronic feedback on a directly modulated InGaAsP laser diode is numerically studied. It is found that a complete elimination of the previously observed period doubling, chaos and formation of pulses with double peak structure is possible by the feedback with small delays. Bifurcation diagrams and time series plots are used to characterize the chaotic and periodic states of the laser.
