Abstract : The dynamics of continuum alpha helical proteins with dipole and quadrupole type molecular excitations is presented by deriving Hamilton’s equations of motion. The condition for modulation instability and formation of spatial solitons is investigated. The standard modulation instability mechanism has shown which can initiate the process of the formation of localized pulses.
