Abstract : Spider silk fiber, a kind of excellent functional fiber, in addition to biocompatibility and biodegradability it shows a special blend of high elongation and supercontraction resulting in extraordinarily tough fibers than any other natural or synthetic fiber, offers a broad spectrum of various industrial applications. This technical paper reviews the elemental viewpoints of Molecular structure of Spider silk fiber, unique behavior of spider Silk and applications of Spider Silk. This technical review paper shows the connection between protein sequence and structure–property relationships. Spider fiber is enriched with various related properties – supercontraction, elasticity and the presence of a ground state – that confer the material with extra alluring highlights, for example, the plausibility of tuning its mechanical conduct as resilient materials in nature. The full comprehension of the connection among functional motifs in fiber and behavior may lead later on to the plan of an assortment of elite, customized materials and gadgets. The characteristic of silk seem lead to inventive green materials that may add to decrease the challenges in creating imaginative insect silk- based materials.
