Abstract : In this paper, we propose a separable approximation method for detection in Massive MIMO systems employing spatial modulation. Spatial Modulation is becoming a viable technique for wireless communication which in turn introduces a kind of sporadic nature into the communication environment. The antenna element is also taken as additional information other than the traditional communication system in the SM. The sporadic nature enables us to use compressed sensing algorithms in this scenario for a massive system where an efficient detection algorithm is imperative. The Bit error rate performance and running time complexity are analyzed for the proposed technique considering all constellation formats and sporadicity. The results are encouraging and substantiates that this approach is a suitable candidate for further research. © 2019 IEEE.
