Abstract : The purpose of this research is to empirically examine the relationship between business strategy and performance. Further, this study investigates the independent influence of environmental uncertainty on the performance. This study finds that environmental uncertainty moderates the relationship between business strategy and performance of firms operating in theTransport Equipment industry in India. With the help of the review of literature, this study has developed and tested a structural model linking business strategy, environmental uncertainty and performance using Partial Least Square (PLS)-Path Modelling (PM) method. The primary data were collected from Senior Finance Professionals representing 36 Transport Equipment companies operating in India through a single cross-sectional mailed survey. This study found that environmental uncertainty has independently influenced the performance and has not moderated the relationship between business strategy and performance.
