Abstract : The ability of the lotus leaf to trap the layer of air under water droplets which causes the droplet to roll off from its surface has inspired researchers to create such surfaces in real life. Incorporating superhydrophobicity to composite materials with the help of nanotechnology created superhydrophobic nanocomposite coatings with magnificent properties which can be applied to medical, packaging, automotive and aerospace industries. Among diverse polymeric materials, epoxy motivated extensive research advancement owing to their superior properties and numerous scientific groups reported studies regarding epoxy based superhydrophobic nanocoatings having excellent applications ranging from self-cleaning to anticorrosion. This review tries to expound various fabrication methods and properties concerning superhydrophobic epoxy-based nanocomposite coatings along with a detailed description on the extensive applications furnished by them.
