Abstract : Present day environmental concerns are driving the international community towarddeveloping low-emission (hybrid electric) and zero-emission (electric) vehicles toreplace conventional internal combustion engine vehicles. This has made the Plug-inHybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology to emerge as a promising technology thatuses electricity to displace petroleum consumption in the vehicle fleet. This reviewpresents, the advancements that have happened in PHEV diesel hybrid technology inrecent years, including vehicle architecture, energy management systems, drivetraincomponent function and grid connections and their corresponding comparison of all theavailable technology systems is also made to improve the economics
