Abstract : The advances in cloud computing, increased our dependency on the cloud. A huge necessity was introduced in the secure storage of big data. The major role of big data tools are indeed its storage and processing of this big amount of data. The Hadoop has a less strong method for ensuring the security and privacy of the data. The encryption is always a good technique to protect sensitive data. In this paper, a modified parallel RC4 encryption algorithm used to enhance Hadoop data security and the cost of the algorithm is reduced using the map reduce. Our experimental results shows the performance improvement for data security with and without map reduce technique compared to other algorithms. © 2017 IEEE.
