Abstract : This paper suggests a method to check suitability of a solar PV system design for a certain application. It presents modeling and performance analysis of a photo voltaic system which is required to meet the full demand of a domestic load with the help of battery storage. The system is also expected to export excess energy to the distribution grid as and when available. The system is designed and the model is simulated to analyze the performance over 24 hours of a day. The simulation results are used to see if the system is meeting all the expected tasks. The PV array size and the energy storage capacity in the case studied are optimized to meet the target. The scope of the work can be easily extended to system design optimization to match different load and irradiance profiles. © 2016 IEEE.
