Abstract : Solar cells have received much attention recently as an environmentally beneficial source of electricity. Photovoltaic devices made of polymeric materials show potential for low-cost new-generation solar cell production, and this has led to intense stimulation of research interest. It has recently been explored that inorganic components can be substituted with polymers, which are capable of high-power conversion efficiencies. Low exciton diffusion lengths and low mobilities, which are inherent in polymers, can be addressed via nanoscale morphology. Polymer/polymer blend solar cells, based on blends of different polymers that act as a hole-electron transport system, have recently attracted attention because of their wide range of potential benefits over traditional solar cells. In this chapter, we discuss the role of polymer blend nanocomposites in solar cell applications.
