Abstract : There is a greater demand for batteries with bigger storage capacity in this era due to the increased demand for slimmer, more compact and powerful electronic gadgets. In this regard it is very important to have a better thermal management of the battery for a better performance. In the Present work Minichannel Heat sinks are used to remove the heat and to maintain constant temperature of the battery using coolants (water, ethylene glycol and acetone) by varying design of Minichannel (single channel, double channel, double wavy channels, double wavy channels with center fins wavy/ pin fin). The material used for Minichannel heat sink is Aluminum and the coolants are maintained to flow within the laminar flow conditions. Ansys Fluent is used to compare the rate of heat dissipation and the results obtained shows that double wavy channel with center wavy fin, water as coolant, increased the heat transfer rate by 195% when compared to single channel heat sink.
