Abstract : This paper focused the design of aperture coupled fractal antenna. The proposed work uses square patch based on the Minkowski-island fractal geometry. The proposed antenna structure uses a combination of aperture coupled techniques and fractal geometry. The fractal approach is used to make antenna elements for smaller size, multiband and broadband properties. The aperture coupled feeding technique is used to identify the exact feed position in the fractal geometry. The return loss achieved during third iteration for the dual frequencies 3.5 GHz, 5.2 GHz are -22.196dB and -17.225dB respectively. The proposed third order iteration MIB fractal patch antenna gives the reduction in patch area 78.164%. The dual resonant frequency obtained during simulation is well suitable for Wi-MAX and WLAN applications.
