Abstract : In modern world object tracking, item identification, child security etc has become an integral part for secure communication. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) helps in achieving this. This paper discuss about planar resonator for RFID application. The proposed resonator is simple and easy to design. The tag consists of slot resonators on a microstrip line which is extended as a 5 bit tag for RFID application. Initial analysis is carried out by using ANSYSS HFSS. The prototype of the tags is fabricated in FR4 epoxy substrate and the simulated results are validated using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA).
