Abstract : The increasing demand of communication systems has emphasized on low cost and small RF/Microwave transceiver. In this paper a compact Asymmetric Coplanar Waveguide (ACPW) fed monopole antenna is designed and fabricated on high resistivity silicon (HR-Si). Being uni-planar in nature the proposed antenna is a potential candidate for Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuits (MMIC). For transreceivers fabricated on silicon chip using CMOS technology, this antenna doesn't need additional steps in process flow for fabrication. ACPW fed monopole antenna provides impedance bandwidth of 250 MHz at 1.8 GHz with a gain of ~ 2 dBi in the entire band with an Omni directional radiation pattern.
