Abstract : The agricultural industry has been forced to raise crop production due to the recent spike in the global population, especially in developing nations, to meet the demands of billions of people. Fertilizers have become a necessary component of modern crop production systems since the “green revolution,” but they also adversely affect the environment, ecosystems, and even human beings. To increase productivity with minimum environmental impacts, nano-agri-inputs came into being. Nanofertilizers combine plant nutrients with nanomaterials and then deliver them as nanosized emulsions. Nanofertilizers have the potential to satisfy the nutritional needs of plants, improve the sustainability of food production systems, and do so without reducing crop yield. They are submicroscopic in size, with a large surface area-to-volume ratio, the capacity to encapsulate nutrients, and improved mobility that helps improve plant nutrient uptake and agricultural productivity. These characteristics make nanofertilizers a deliverable "smart system of nutrients.” The application of nanotechnology can aid in reducing poverty by addressing the essential needs of country inhabitants and reducing hunger by increasing the yield of food grains, thus meeting the Sustainable Development Goals. By 2030, the Millennium Sustainable Development Goals aim to end hunger, attain food security, and enhance food and agricultural sustainability.
