Abstract : The paper presents a microwave-based non-invasive technique for estimating organic dye residue content in top soil. The study involves mixing top soil samples with different levels of organic dyes, and subjecting them to X-band frequency. Reflectivity measurements with variations ranging from 5 dB to 10 dB is observed at 10 GHz. Additionally, significant variations in reflectivity levels are observed at other frequencies within the X-band, at 9.58 GHz and 10.45 GHz. The results indicate that this technique has the potential to provide a rapid initial estimate of top soil pollution, making it a valuable tool for pollution monitoring agencies for taking up bioremediation.
