Abstract : Onchocerciasis is an infection caused by Onchocerca volvulus that causes eye and skin diseases. Infection is transmitted by black flies from one human to another. The infection is widely spread in Africa and more than 99% of the people with this infection live in Africa. The mass drug administration (MDA) campaign has led to the efforts of distributing the ivermectin to eliminate the human onchocerciasis by 2025. In certain regions, the drugs treated against the infection gains resistance to it, thus leading to no cure for the infection. Due to this instance, certain herbal plants which are already in use as traditional medicines for various diseases have been selected and studied for their anti-onchocerca activity.
