Abstract : The present paper titled “Literary Hodgepodge: An Account of miscellaneous representations of food in selected works” aims to attempt a functional and semantic analysis of food in A Streetcar named desire by Tennessee Williams, Confused spice by Mathis Bailey, Garlic, Mint and Sweet Basil by Jean Claude Izzo and Sex, Bombs and Burgers by Peter Nowak, in a specific narrative and cultural domain. In this contribution, the paper will endeavours to gain some insight into an understand the essential concept of ‘food’ through quantitative and qualitative analysis of works, cultures, characters and their collocates and concordances. Quantitative analysis of responses, psyche, emotional behaviour and reception is expressed in terms of graphical representations. Qualitative analysis provides a better understanding of technological progress of society. Collocation approach used to compare and analyse the ways authors perceive. The concept of food in four works is studied in various contexts. In general, the findings will indicate their similarities, differences and basic relationship between themes, the significance of works, which are represented in quantitative methods.
