Abstract : With the increasing penetration of renewable energy sources (RES), the area of solar photovoltaic (PV) system has proficient a significant growth for the previous three decades in its extensive use from standalone to utility communicating PV systems. The finest way to use the power generated by the PV array is to distribute it to the AC grid. When solar PV system is associated to the utility grid, various technical concerns have to be analyzed thoroughly. One of the important phenomenon is islanding condition and this islanding can affect the utility workers as well as destruction of the other part of the system. In this paper, different types of islanding detection techniques for grid connected solar PV system are discussed and comparative analysis is made based on power quality (PQ) effect, cost and others.
