Abstract : India has been undergoing rapid urbanization. The indoor safety of residents, particularly in densely populated areas, is of paramount concern. The pervaded use of liquefied petroleum gas for domestic requirement, together with the challenges of voguish urban living, augments the urgency to address potential hazards that results from gas leakage. These covers fire outbreaks, explosions, and health implications. This paper focuses on the design and development of an innovative IoT-enabled safety assurance system against gas leakages in an apartment building. The system is designed to revolutionize safety protocols within indoor spaces. The system incorporates IoT enabled gas sensors, that serve as the client, placed in each apartment, a cloud server, a notification unit, and a graphical user interface. The proposed system monitors, notifies and records the air quality of all apartments in the building. The system combines state-of-the-art hardware setup and cloud-based infrastructure for real time detection of gas leakage. The suggested system is tested for its performance under different conditions. The proposed system is expected to be a proactive approach to prevent incidents related to gas leakage, minimizing health risks and property damage.
