Abstract : The mechanical characteristics of Al6061 filled with Tungsten carbide composites and Al6061 filled with graphite particulate composites are compared in this article. The fine reinforcing particles in MMCs range 0% to 4% by weight. The composites were manufactured using stir casting - vortex method. Al6061-WC and Al6061-Gr composites were exemplified for various properties following ASTM standards. The composites were later subjected to T6 ageing. The experimental findings revealed that increasing WC particle amount in matrix resulted in increased Young’s modulus and tensile strength, as well as decrease in ductility, while Al6061-Gr metal matrix composites (MMCs) displayed a noteworthy reduction in hardness, increase in ductility, and compressive strength. Heat-treated Al6061-MMCs had improved microstructural and mechanical properties in general.
