Abstract : To enhance the desirable mechanical properties in aluminum alloys for lightweight applications, the particles such as oxides, carbides, sulfides are blended as reinforcements and it is formed as metal matrix composites. In this present work, AA7075 Aluminium Matrix Composites (AMC) are fabricated with 3% and 7% weight fraction of tungsten disulfide (WS2) solid lubricant particles. The composites are made using the stir casting technique and the required specimens are produced using the Wire-cut Electric Discharge Machine (WEDM) according to ASTM Standard. The mechanical properties such as hardness and tensile strength are investigated on fabricated composites. The microstructure of the composites is studied using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The effect of WS2 particle addition on AA7075 aluminium matrix is analyzed and compared with pure AA7075 material. The test results analysis revealed that hardness in composites increased gradually for a volume addition of WS2 reinforcements particles. The fluctuation in tensile strength is identified for the increase of WS2 addition on AA7075 Composites and a decrease in tensile strength is recognized compared to pure AA7075.
