Abstract : Diving has become a prevalent way of performing research in underwater environments. One of the major concerns with diving is the health issues faced by the divers during deep sea dives which call for the necessity of a reliable health monitoring system. The paper mainly focuses on the architectural design of an intelligent remote health monitoring system for divers using underwater acoustic communication. The system senses various health parameters, analyze it and deliver the diver health status to the receiver positioned on a distant ship. Main advantage of this system is that, it transmits the data only during abnormal health condition which reduces power consumption and data loss that happens due to continuous data transmission. Initial level performance analysis of the proposed system has been done using an underwater acoustic test bed. The transmitted and received data was analyzed using LabVIEW.
