Abstract : This study outlines the simulation and experimental investigation of a hybrid power filter for supplying high-quality power to consumers. The hybrid filter implemented in this paper uses a parallel connection of a passive filter and a shunt active power filter (APF). A low impedance channel is provided by the shunt passive filter to tune out the nonlinear load harmonic frequencies, whereas the shunt APF compensates for the higher-order harmonics and reactive power. The instantaneous power estimation algorithm (IPEA) is used to drive the shunt APF in this work. IPEA is the algorithm that is used to simulate and test the hybrid power filter, as well as to determine its efficacy.
