Abstract : The growing environmental concerns and the rapid growth in the energy demand, led to an alternative for the currently used conventional energy resources. Renewable energy technology is the best option, but they are uncontrollable and unpredictable in nature, because of which steady output cannot be obtained. This problem can be solved by integrating solar and wind energy sources as they are complement to each other. Nowadays, there is a tremendous increase in the number of electric vehicles which use lithium ion battery. The dependency of these vehicles on grid for their battery charging will lead to the power system instability problem in future. In this paper, a hybrid wind and solar based battery charging system is proposed for charging the electric vehicles. A fused DC-DC converter with fuzzy logic controller is used to charge the battery either with both sources or any one source depending on the availability of solar irradiation and wind. Simulation of the hybrid system is done in MATLAB Simulink and the same system is implemented in hardware using dSPIC30F4011 microcontroller and both results are presented
