Abstract : High Velocity Oxygen Fuel thermal spraying has been performed on AZ91D magnesium alloy with different compositions of Stainless Steel 316(ss316) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) to study and improve the surface characteristics of the substrate. The corrosion analysis, M icro Hardness analysis and Surface Roughness analysis were conducted on the coated and non-coated substrates. The experimental results obtained indicates that both corrosion resistance and hardness of the coated substrate were significantly improved on comparison with non-coated substrate also surface roughness value obtained indicates much improved characteristics which contribute to the better and wide application of AZ91D M agnesium Alloy.
