Abstract : Nanofiber-based materials are now widely accepted as potential sensors as well as anticorrosive coatings. Nanofibers are having large surface area, so that they can provide an effective coating over the metal substrates. Nanofibers are having excellent mechanical properties so that these materials find application in textile industries, electrical industries as thermite textiles, and supercapacitors, phototransistors. They are having controlled pore structure, lightweight along with high-surface-to-volume ratio. Nanofibers are an emerging field of fibrous materials which can modify polymer matrices. Currently, these nanofiber-reinforced polymer matrices are widely accepted as anticorrosive coatings. Functionalization of these nanofibers makes them suitable for specialized applications with multifunctional possibilities. This chapter throws light on functionalized nanofibers and their application as anticorrosive coatings.
