Abstract : The roundness of cylindrical surfaces is mainly measured using two methods; contact and non-contact. Contact method of evaluation is widely used in industries. But nowadays the demand for the non-contact method is increasing. The roundness measuring instruments are mainly used by the automobile and manufacturing industries. This paper deals with the development of non-contact measuring instrument using machine vision to measure dimension and form error which are affordable to Indian industries and educational institutions.
