Abstract : Before settling on a project, an Environmental Impact Assessment is carried out to determine the project’s environmental, social, and economic implications. EIA is a tool that guides them to take appropriate decisions for proposed projects. An early stage of prediction of environmental impacts at its planning and design of the project can be facilitated to find out suitable ways to reduce the adverse impacts so that the project can be shaped to suit the local environment. The present work highlights the assessment of the Environmental impact associated with a stone quarry and arrays the mitigation measures about the impacts of a stone quarry in Neyyattinkara Taluk in Thiruvananthapuram District. The EIA aims to study for a radial distance of 10km of rock mining to study various environmental the matics, such as Air, Noise, Water, Soil, and socio-economic. Opencast semi-mechanized mining will be adopted to extract Building stones of the required size. Various mitigation measures have been specified for abating air, water, and noise pollution. By identifying the mitigation measures the impact due to the quarry activity can be minimized.
