Abstract : Internet of Things is growing every day and has become a major part in the development and advancement of technology. Any IoT device is a transformation of almost all the substantial things which are connected to the Internet for proper transmission of information. IoT is used in various sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, making Web sites, security, etc. However, it is susceptible to Sybil attacks where the attacker generates false peer identities in order to compromise the system's disproportionate share. In this paper, we model the Sybil attack in the Cooja simulator and evaluate the behavior of the nodes and reach a conclusion on the active masquerade by using the trust value scheme. Further, we discuss the AODV routing protocol which helps in deciding the correct route for sending packets and enhances the process of detecting Sybil nodes in the network.
