Abstract : Photovoltaic (PV) systems are the fast growing technology for the last few years as the major electricity source. This paper develops an efficient energy management system and it analyses solar energy system in an economical basis especially for industrial applications. Cost calculation payback period under various scenarios are performed here. In this energy management system operating mode of PV system and battery is controlled by a microcontroller in order to enhance the usage of energy from the installed system. During the day time, the solar panel is producing sufficient power to meet the peak load condition. During the normal load condition, the excess power generated from the PV panel should be stored in battery energy storage system and is used for next peak hours. If there is an insufficiency in producing power from the PV panel and battery is also fully discharged, then the load demand will be met by the main grid. As an economical option it can be introduced in industries like hospitals and manufacturing companies. By conducting an economical analysis it focuses the attainability of this system for practical implementation.Photovoltaic (PV) systems are the fast growing technology for the last few years as the major electricity source.
