Abstract : Background and Aim: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is the most commonly employed treatment modality for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) smaller than 3 cm. Microwave ablation (MWA) has additional advantages in the form of shorter ablation time, attains higher ablation temperature and zone than that obtained with RFA at reduced heat-sink effect. In this study, we compared the efficacy of MWA versus RFA in patients with HCC lesions less than 3cm.
