Abstract : Voltage sag, one of the PQ issue in voltage, causes tripping of drive systems in process industries, which results into economics losses. As a solution to this, DVR isreported. The operation and performance of DVR is highly influenced by the method used for construction of unit vector. Unlike in other applications, DVR deals with unbalancedvoltages (grid side) as well as balanced voltages (load side). This leads to selection for unit vectors, which demands a selection criterion. This paper deals with the selection ofappropriate method for unit vector construction for proper operation of DVR.
