Abstract : Lithium is the metal with lowest density. Lithium addition to the magnesium results in an ultra-light weight alloy with excellent properties on a mass basis. In this work, the effect of lithium content on mechanical properties of magnesium were studied. Vacuum stir casting method was employed to cast the alloys. The extrusion of these binary alloys was carried out. Microstructures of all alloys were taken. Tensile tests of extruded alloys were conducted and property values were noted. Micro hardness test was conducted on both cast and extruded alloys.
