Abstract : Aluminium alloy AA5052 has excellent strength to weight ratio, which makes it best suited for marine applications. The study explores the effect of heat treatment on the mechanical, corrosion and tribological properties of friction stir processed aluminium alloy AA5052. The micro hardness, tensile strength and wear rate of the base material, friction stir processed and the annealed specimens were analyzed. The results indicate that the FSP followed by annealing increases hardness, tensile strength and resistance to wear of AA5052 alloy
