Abstract : Today, there are so many people with visual impairments. With the advancement in technology, the responsibility to invent new methods to assist the visually impaired users have been increased. In this paper, the colour of the objects and their positions are identified. The colour of the objects is found using thresholding technique. The threshold values can be varied if required. The threshold values are set separately for red, green and blue colours. If the threshold is set high, then only the objects with high colour intensity are detected and if the threshold is set low, the objects having low to middle colour intensity could also be detected. Position of the object is determined by taking the position of its centroid as reference and is displayed in terms of Cartesian coordinates i.e., X-coordinate and Y-coordinate. Also, the number of objects detected is shown on the monitor.
