Abstract : GPS antennas find use in a myriad of applications in various industries such as for tracking, location identification, surveying etc. These antennas are used to connect to GPS satellites and acquire GPS data (latitudinal and longitudinal data) to identify the current location. A circularly polarized, low profile, GPS patch antenna is designed. The proposed antenna is designed as a better alternative to the already present commercial antennas which are weak and often fail in areas where less localization time and accuracy are appreciated. In the paper, the designed antenna’s performance is evaluated and contrasted with the previously reported antennas in literature. The proposed antenna is easy to fabricate due to its low profile construct and supports GPS L1 (1.575 GHz) which is developed to allow GPS and foreign satellite navigation systems to communicate with one another. The antenna for GPS application was designed and analyzed using CST studio software.
