Abstract : Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) are dominant controllers for the power flow enhancement in a power system network. Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) is a series connected FACTS controller can give adequate control of the power flow in a transmission line. This paper focuses on the nonlinear modeling and nonlinear control of SSSC connected to an interconnected system. Robust nonlinear control technique, namely Partial Feedback Linearization Controller (PFBLC) is an effective mathematical tool to control under dynamic variations in the power system. The paper also includes complete design of SSSC parameters suitable for a benchmarked system for validating the controller performance. The results shows the eminent performance of SSSC with PFBLC on the power flow enhancement when compared to PI controllers.
