Abstract : In this paper, the design of pressing unit is used for making sanitary pads out of banana fibre is proposed. The design consists of a piston assembly and supporting frame which are made out of low cost materials. In addition, the stability of the design is analysed through simulation using ANYSYS software package. A static analysis of the supporting frame is carried out to find the optimum force that can be applied on the pressing unit. The piston assembly is meant for pressing the banana fibres which are placed on the die. Three dies are used and are placed at 120° angles to each other, on a circular base. Two motors are used to drive piston and the circular base and are synchronized using Arduino programming.
