Abstract : A survey of the Elderly in India 2021 by the Ministry of Statistics and programme implementation by the Government of India says that in a comparison of the population census for the year 2011 and the projected Population for the year 2021 had observed that the annual growth rate of the ageing population in percentage is 3.28%. With the increasing number of the ageing population, more numbers of people are experiencing difficulties in caring for themselves. The major problem that the elderly People facing difficulties in walking, standing up and sitting-down due to the loss of muscle mass and bone strength. Because of this loss of strength, the body suddenly loses its balance, which sometimes makes them fall and causes fractures in different body parts and permanently in the bed. So it is important to design a robot to assist the user in standing up, sitting down, and giving better support in walking and for sitting and standing. Here we designed and simulated a autonomous robot which is able to assist the elderly people in both sit to stand and stand to sit process by introducing a rotational adjustable chair with a novel seesaw lead screw linkage mechanism The rotational adjustable hand support introduced in the robot to give them more confidence to handle the robot in self-transferring process(chair to other surface) and help then to stand up and siting them in any place. And the robot can move autonomously from one place to another in an indoor environment. The simulation results shows the robot is able assist the elderly people in their daily activities with their very less effort.
