Abstract : Due to the increasing demand for electricity and the limited availability of conventional energy resources, solar Photo Voltaic (PV) energy has emerged as a promising alternative. It offers several advantages, including being environmentally friendly, easily accessible, and cost-effective to maintain. This paper presents the design of an irrigation system powered by a solar PV array, employing a zeta converter to efficiently harness power from the PV array as an intermediate DC-DC converter. The primary objective of this study is to simulate a water pumping system utilizing a solar PV array, a zeta converter for optimal power extraction, and a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) to drive a BLDC motor. The Zeta converter is controlled using the Incremental Conductance (INC) MPPT technique, while the VSI employs electrical commutation logic for fundamental frequency switching of the BLDC motor. Importantly, the proposed irrigation system is designed to maintain functionality when confronted with dynamic conditions, and this paper discusses both the MATLAB simulation results and hardware development aspects of the system.
