Abstract : In this proposed work, controllable phase shift of ultrashort optical soliton through nonlinear tunneling is realized for coupled cubic–quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with variable coefficients which can be used to describe the soliton transmission in non-Kerr birefringent fiber medium. Also, considered master equation is applicable for propagation of soliton in a multimode optical fiber. One soliton solution is attained by means of Darboux transformation based on designed Lax pair and phase shift of optical soliton is controlled through the process of nonlinear tunneling. Especially, barrier’s height and barrier’s width are mainly affecting the phase shift of soliton. With the aid of computation, for the first time, various phase shifting scenario of optical soliton through nonlinear spectral tunneling behavior in birefringence fiber is reported. Graphical illustration of obtained soliton solution is presented by employing Mathematica tool. Results obtained in this work will helpful in the process of path control in multimode fiber based optical devices.
