Abstract : The advancement of filler materials and enhanced production capabilities have increased the use of traditional polymer composite materials. Numerous fascinating nanomaterials have been discovered in the last few years, significantly impacting our way of living. The emergence of novel production techniques that can ensure dependable processing pathways for nanocomposites with good nanoparticle dispersion and distribution is also a priority, as studies are into the functionalization of the particles to enhance the interactions between the matrix and the particles. Since nanoparticles are becoming a part of our everyday lives, environmental exposure is inevitable. As a result, research on nanotoxicity is gaining popularity. According to recent studies, nanoparticles can enter the body when they are exposed through skin contact and inhalation. Nanoparticles are microscopic particles that can be swallowed or inhaled and may be hazardous to human health and the environment. Since nanotechnology is grounded on fundamental research done in universities, the academic community is also planning its intellectual property (IP) policy to keep up with advancements in the field. The legal system especially addressing the current intellectual property (IP) regulations governing nanotechnology, deals with the lack of clarity in this area. Traditional intellectual property rights are being questioned in a nontypical environment that nanotechnology has produced due to its multidisciplinary nature and ongoing evolution. The present chapter explores environmental, safety, legal, and health concerns regarding nanofillers.
