Abstract : Green nanotechnology enables the synthesis and development of nanomaterials through safer fabrication routes with low toxicity so that the utilization of these materials in biomedical applications is constantly gaining momentum. The advent of green initiatives in nanotechnology has revolutionised the biosensor and drug delivery arena and biosensors are now considered as powerful analytical tools for selective and sensitive detection and examination of many analytes as well as diseases. Apart from nanomaterials, nanoclusters, hybrid nanomaterials, biological molecules, microbes and nanocomposites are also involved in the active fabrication of biosensors and drug delivery agents. This chapter focuses on the various green strategies used for the fabrication of potential nano clusters that could be employed in the fields of bio detection and drug delivery. Though there are many review articles that point out the utility of nanomaterials in biosensing and drug delivery, yet a few reports concentrate exclusively on nanoclusters. Hence our earnest approach is to bridge the gap in literature. The chapter also concentrates on the various mechanisms through which these biosensors and drug delivery agents operate.
