Abstract : This chapter extensively describes an overview of biobased polymers’ composite foams for packaging appliances. The essential features of the biofoams sourced from botanicals, trees, animals, seaweed, bacteria, and others and their blending with natural/synthetic biodegradable polymers are expanded. The merits and demerits of biofoams with petroleum-based plastics in their preparation, properties, biodegradability, and uses are compared. Numerous important biofoams are generated from starch, cellulose, tree gums (Arabic, Karaya, and Kondagogu), carrageenan, xanthan, chitosan, and polylactic acid are broadly discussed. Notably, the chemical structure, blending, preparation method, use of various additives or plasticizers, and foams in multiple types, such as fibers, films, and sponges’ types and their physical, chemical, morphological, mechanical, thermal, antibacterial efficiency and biodegradability toward the various packaging appliances, including food packaging of biofoams have been displayed in this chapter.es
