Abstract : Nowadays automatic analysis of biomedical images is gaining importance. Thus well-defined methods should be adapted for segmenting the filamentous structures that often occurs in angiography images, MRA techniques etc. Here a filtering operation is utilised that can segment the tubular structures like blood vessels using the vesselness measure that exploits the physical significance of Hessian matrix and second order structure of image. The approach can be applied in both multiscale and single scale application. This filtering operation is again enhanced using automatic technique for threshold fixing, so that the unnecessary biasing can be eliminated.
