Abstract : In the current scenario, digital techniques are applied in various applications. Mainly it could focus the medical diagnosis framework for any kind of issues. There are plenty of organs used for a medical diagnosis like the Brain, Chest and various body parts. The brain is the major organ in the human body, acting as a controller and activator of all other organs. The morphological studies, analysis and diagnosis utilize Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI). A magnetic resonance machine captures the images, the signals are decoded using a computer, and the image is transferred to other devices. Hence, the research commences from image formation to substructure segmentation and tissue quantification. All the studies guide to take remarkable diagnoses for various disease and treatment planning. The research-oriented institutes call for several different challenges to the researcher also. This study reports the further research on the human brain functions, segmentation of brain components, tissue quantification techniques and compression techniques. The first phase gives a brief introduction about the techniques that have been used for diagnosing MRI brain. The second phase focuses to trace the availability of MRI brain image datasets and hosted websites. The third phase introduced the validation metrics used for various task assessment such as compression, denoising, segmentation and volume detection. Further this study reveals the recent years literature reviews it also carries several challenges were conducted in several websites, this work discloses the appraised methodologies at the conclusion.
