Abstract : Defected ground structures (DGS) provide wide band stop characteristics in planar transmission lines. In this paper, analysis of Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) and Asymmetric Coplanar Waveguide (ACPW) DGS band stop filter is presented. When DGS is incorporated in the ground plane of both ACPW and CPW, it disturbs the current distribution in the ground plane and gives band stop characteristics. The effect of various DGS parameters on the filter characteristics is studied. This paper also presents the influence of substrate parameters on filter characteristics.
