Abstract : Alloys of Cu-Ni-Sn with varying wt. %Ni have been cast in sand moulds. Specimens were homogenised, solubilised and aged to induce spinodal decomposition and were used for hardness and wear testing with a pin-on-disc unit under dry sliding condition in air. Ni increases the peak hardness and decreases the aging time, implying that it contributes significantly to the process of spinodal decomposition. The wear rate is found to be a function ofhardness. The coefficient of friction is observed to be a constant and independent of hardness. Copyright © 2012 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
